Tiziana loves using porcelain for the way it picks up amazing detail. She describes it beautifully, as like ‘a held-onto memory’, and has always enjoyed combining it with other materials including glass, clothing, lace and gauze. Tiziana doesn’t normally use glazes on her work as she loves the bony, fossil-like quality of high-fired porcelain, but in this particular series of vessels, she wanted to explore the use of a photographic technique, cyanotype, to make more organic, abstract designs using the subtle gradations of blue that exposure to sunlight creates.
After finishing her Degree in Fine Art & Ceramics at Camberwell College in London, Tiziana went on to do a short course in Architectural Glass at Wolverhampton University. Since then she has had the opportunity to exhibit in some of the most prestigious galleries and museums in England and Europe, including the Hayward Gallery, Sotheby’s, the Concourse Gallery, South Bank, London as well as the Kunstmuseum, Wolfsburg, Germany and MIAAO International Museum of Applied Arts in Turin. Her work has also been shown in the Affordable Art Fairs of London, Milan and New York, as well as SOFA in Chicago.
