Tina Vlassopulos

Tina Vlassopulos is based in London where she produces one-off hand built ceramics which are burnished to give a smooth tactile surface. She often mixes stains and oxides into the clay to produce different colours.

Although Tina’s work seems to draw ideas from nature, it is the performing arts, which inspire her. She is concerned in instilling a sense of movement and poise in each piece while also creating harmony. Sometimes the work is grouped together activating the spaces between the work and producing a synergy between the elements, thus forming a visual rhythm.

The ‘pots’ are made with an eye to the possibility of function, but this is balanced by a sculptural context and the concept of container carries only an aesthetic and symbolic value.
