Born in Woodbridge, Suffolk, Brigitte grew up in nearby Framlingham, spending her childhood wild and free exploring the surrounding countryside with friends and her family dog, Sam. After studying Psychology at the University of Exeter and subsequently gaining a PGCE before teaching in primary education, Brigitte retrained as a florist and ran her own floral design business for fifteen years. She became internationally recognised for her pioneering use of seasonal, locally grown, pesticide-free flowers, creating loose, garden-inspired arrangements that celebrated the fragility and imperfection of nature. Her work attracted students to join her one-to-one classes and residential workshops from across the UK and as far afield as Hong Kong, Canada, the USA, Malaysia, and Europe.
In June 2022, Brigitte returned to her early love of art and soon after began painting full-time. A self-taught artist, she has undertaken several online courses to support her continued development. Her work has since featured in solo and group exhibitions, and she is a member of Suffolk Open Studios. Brigitte is currently represented by The Gallery, Maldon. She has collectors in the USA, Canada, Spain and across the UK. Brigitte is best known for her playful, naïve still-life paintings, drawn from imagination and memory. Her work encourages viewers to notice the quiet, gentle beauty in the overlooked and ordinary moments of everyday life.
