Mary Woodin

Illustrator and artist Mary Woodin has a great eye for detail and excels when painting natural subjects. Her beautiful watercolours have been commissioned for a wide range of international projects including packaging, book and magazine publishing, advertising and stationery. Mary studied at the Royal College of Art in London and immediately after graduation was commissioned to produce ceramic tile murals for South Kensington Underground Station. This was followed by tableware designs for Wedgwood and ever increasing projects for international clients.

A move to Suffolk, 17 years ago, provided Mary with the opportunity to work from a large studio in the garden. She documented those first exciting years of getting to grips with rural life in an illustrated anthology “Drawn to the Country” (Conker Press). Working mainly in watercolours Mary enjoys capturing the essence of the changing seasons, whether that be the flowers in her garden, an abandoned bird’s nest, the countryside beyond or the atmospheric Suffolk coastline.

More recently she has also turned her curious eye to depicting the interiors at Kettle’s Yard and The Red House, Aldeburgh. These small, detailed watercolours convey her joyful reaction to the beauty of the curated spaces.
