Lesley Birch

Lesley Birch’s paintings are an emotional response to places she visits - from Cornish and Scottish Coasts to the forests of North Wales. Working in oil and cold wax, she builds up layers over time, playing with texture and colour to produce lush, visceral surfaces. Born in Glasgow and currently based in York, Lesley works from both her home studio and PICA studios in York City Centre. She has exhibited in the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition, The ING Discerning Eye and has contributed to a book about cold wax techniques published in the USA.
