Based in London
Born in Hong Kong, I moved to the UK in 1970, and have since lived in New Zealand, Sudan, Tanzania, Pakistan, South Korea, Egypt and Bosnia & Herzegovina. I am now living in London with my family.
I have a background in traditional Chinese painting and calligraphy, which I studied in Hong Kong and Korea as well as in art and design, which I studied in London.
My art is characterised by its variety of styles and media, ranging from mixed media painting of towns and cities to drawings with ink on paper. I have a unique style mixing both traditional and contemporary methods, combining drawing, painting and collage, which often results in unusual interpretations of familiar subjects. My Chinese style paintings are more understated, with focus on brushwork, composition, and the interplay of negative space. My artistic perspective, informed by my extensive travels and diverse experiences ties all my work together. My art is often inspired by the beautiful old cities and towns I have encountered in my journeys, and I seek to express the essence of these experiences in my work.
