Charlotte McLeish

Based in East London Charlotte creates ceramics using a variety of methods from pinching and coiling to working at the wheel. Her vessels are influenced by research into historic ceramics, most notably the ancient Egyptian and Greek periods.

Surface texture is built up using a range of clays, slips, glazes and more esoteric materials such as sand and seaweed. Charlotte’s recent hand-painted illustrated vessels have enabled her to explore the role of story-telling in her work resulting in ceramics that are imbued with both charm and intrigue.
