Anna Francis

Anna Francis is a printmaker working in Bristol.

After having used photography, digital drawing and screen printing as art mediums in the past, she has now developed a love of drypoint. Her work is a celebration of nature's raw and delicate beauty.

Her current work begins with a pencil study of the chosen plant form. The image is duplicated, mirrored then etched by hand, tracing through on to an acrylic plate.

The chine colle technique (Allium, Ethereal, Beacon, Old Man's Beard and Rosebay Willowherb) is when a delicate Japanese gampi paper is pressed between the printing plate and printmaking paper.

All of her prints are made using Somerset white 300gsm printmaking paper and intaglio ink.
