Based in Kent.
Simon spent his childhood fishing, drawing, and painting (usually creatures with sharp teeth). His first experience with clay was at the age of nine, throwing on the wheel under the guiding hands of Tessa Oates at Chipstead Craft Studios, later sculpting and modelling. He entered the world of graphic design and illustration, freelancing in London design studios for a decade and then from his home in Kent. With the increasing use of computers, he felt the call back to clay and the need to express himself in more tangible forms.
Simon is fascinated by the relationship that develops between man and man’s best friend. His work combines illustration and sgraffito to depict and celebrate the exciting (sometimes imaginary) life of his late Labrador Retriever, Uly, in permanent, everlasting ceramic form – so much easier to keep clean than the real thing!

The Own Art Scheme is an interest-free loan scheme set up by the Arts Council that is designed to make it affordable for everyone to buy original, high quality contemporary art and craft by letting you spread the cost of your purchase over 10 months.
You can choose any work with a retail price between £250 and £25,000 from our great selection of prints, paintings, ceramics, sculpture, glass and wood. It is not possible to buy gift vouchers with the Own Art Scheme.
You can borrow from as little as £250 up to a maximum of £25,000 . We then spread the cost of your purchase over 10 months with an interest free loan. For instance, if you buy a painting from us that costs £300 through the own art scheme, you would pay £30 in 10 monthly installments.
