Sue Jones

Sue Jones is an Artist, Painter, Printmaker, Tutor, Consultant, and founder organiser of the Cambridge Original Printmakers Biennale.

Sue runs printmaking workshops at the ACE Foundation, Stapleford Granary, Gainsborough House, Sudbury and her own studio Stoneman Press alongside being an Artist Facilitator with Kettles Yard Cambridge University. Susan was Lead Tutor and Studio Manager at the Curwen Print Study Centre for 17 years.

Sues paintings and prints are inspired by landscape, and emotion creating new abstract landscapes infused with mystery, drama, vitality, colour and space.  The paintings evolve over time through multiple layers discovering the image and emotion within till the painting speaks back and becomes its own place and space, a new landscape with a new voice. Sue is always observing landscape, environment, and weather. Sketching, photographing and soaking up the colours, atmosphere and presence of place to imbue in her work be it paintings or print.

Alongside her paintings Sue works with print. Harnessing many printmaking techniques to create multi-layered Monotypes again striving to capture the fragility, strength, emotion and drama of landscape.
