Rebecca Vincent has worked self-employed as an artist for 20 years, specialising in the discipline of printmaking. She earned her BA in Fine Art from the Ruskin School of Art (the art department of Oxford University) and her Master of Fine Art from the University of Newcastle upon Tyne. She originally hails from Clitheroe in Lancashire but she has made her home in Newcastle, where she lives with her husband and two children. In 2004 she established Horsley Printmakers, her studio in Northumberland where she led a programme of adult courses in printmaking and related subjects. These days, she focuses on her own artistic practise, creating new pieces and developing her range of cards and prints.
The amazing colour and mark-making possibilities of etching and monotype have fascinated her for many years. Her prints combine a multi-coloured, layered approach with powerful mark-making and bold patterns that depict the landscape imaginatively. She takes inspiration from the local landscape but then creates a strong, rhythmic, idealized composition that expresses a more abstract idea.
