Natalie Aird

The first time she worked with glass, Natalie was captivated by its chameleon-like ability to transform with the light. This, combined with a lifelong passion for tangible, tactile objects meant she was instantly hooked to the medium of glass.

The work uses a combination of kiln-forming and cold-working techniques such as fusing, casting, sawing and polishing. Her fresh, kiln-formed glass designs demonstrate a fascination with the solid yet transparent nature of glass and the dynamic effect of light both upon and through the medium.

Living and working in the Scottish Highlands, she is influenced by the light and natural forms in the surrounding land, sea and sky; by the elemental forces of nature at work in the environment and their effect on objects, both man-made and natural.
