Lynne is an oil painter and print-maker, who draws constantly in a sketch book. Her work reflects love of nature in all forms. The land, water, rocks, birds and tiny insects all find their way into her work, either in a painting or an etching.
Lynne's paintings consist mainly of British Landscapes. Whilst living in the high desert of New Mexico, memories of misty, dewy landscape made her homesick, so she painted home to ease her longing. It may be a fleeting moment that captures her eye or a mood that she wishes to evoke. Even though it starts with a literal place, the painting eventually takes on a life of its own.
In the past, Lynne has preferred to work in oils, but recently she has been experimenting with acrylics in sketch books and has discovered a fluidity, which has informed her oil painting. Lynne would carefully lay out her oil paintings wiping out the 'lights' and leaving the 'darks', however, recently she is working more directly onto the surface, moving the paint around and enjoying the intrinsic qualities of the paint.
