Lucy Howard

Lucy was born in 1973 in Somerset and she has lived in the countryside ever since. She was encouraged to draw and paint from an early age and taken on regular trips to the large galleries in London. She is entirely self taught and in recent years she has been able to dedicate more time to painting as her children have grown older.

In 2013 Lucy’s friend persuaded her to enter BBC 1's The One Show art competition, which was judged by accomplished artists and a curator of the National Portrait gallery. To her amazement she won! This has given her the confidence to move forward with her art and Lucy is now painting full time. It also led to exhibitions and a card company printing art cards of her paintings.

Lucy paints in acrylics on board and canvas. She takes inspiration from everyday life and likes to insert a little humour into her paintings.

Lucy paints with the hope that she brings people pleasure and a smile to their face.
