Based in the South Wales with the beautiful mountains and fantastic coastline on her door step, Louise is inspired by the changing colours, light and history of the landscape. She graduated from Bath Spa University in 1998 with a degree in Illustration, after a few commissions and an award for a children's book (unpublished) she found myself in a full time exhibition design job which she concentrated on for a number of years.
She has always loved landscape painting and in 2009 it became her obsession. She is passionate about painting outdoors. She finds that the constantly changing view in front of you keeps you on your toes and forces you to observe and experience the scene more intensely. The conditions are always a challenge but she always finds that the best way to painting a storm is to experience it! If the weather is too wild her car becomes a studio. She paints in oils and always aims to do her paintings in one sitting.
She lives in the South Wales Valleys near Blaenavon and travels quite widely in search of views to paint but she is never disappointed to return home where the landscape is so interesting and varied from the terrace streets and post-industrial valleys, the rugged black mountains and hugely tidal coastline with its expansive estuaries and tall cliffs.
Her work has been developing over the last three years. She has taken part in numerous groups shows, she has gallery representation from Scotland to Cornwall and she has been selected for open exhibitions such as The Cork Street Open.
