Laura is interested in the natural world and our sometimes difficult relationship with it. Using a combination of figurative and abstract elements, she enjoys bringing together colours, patterns, and expressive marks alongside recognisable forms to create thoughtful representations of nature.
Laura is interested in how we interact with the world around us and the sometimes destructive impact it can have – either on ourselves or on our environment. By using a figurative style that sometimes borrows abstract elements, her work aims to be allusive and open-ended.
Laura is influenced in part by environmental events on a global scale, but mainly her work explores at the interesting but sometimes forgotten details of the local landscape around us.
She studied art and history of art at the Winchester School of Art in Hampshire, followed by a Masters degree in contemporary art, criticism and philosophy at the University of Essex. Laura now lives in Suffolk.
