Edward Smith

Born and brought up in the busy fishing town of Buckie on the Moray Firth Coast, Edward Smith retains a lifelong interest in harbours and fishing boats.

After training as a Graphic Designer, he held a range of posts in education first as a Lecturer in Art and then, for fifteen years, as Adviser in Art and Design for Grampian Regional Council. He is a founder member of Peacock Printmakers, Abderdeen, and is an elected professional member of the Aberdeen Artist’s Society. He returned to teaching in 1990.

Edward Smith has exhibited paintings and prints throughout the U.K., and has work in private and public collections including the Scottish Arts Council and Grampian Hospitals Art Project.

He was an invited contributor to ‘The Art Machine’ at the McLellan Galleries, Glasgow, in 1989 and has recently completed a commission, based on the fishing boat models and colour studies, for the new Community Hospital, Peterhead.
