Catriona MacKenzie

Originally a Highland Lass, I am now living just outside Bristol. I discovered my passion for glass while studying at Edinburgh College of Art with the intention of pursuing a career in Silversmithing. I was instantly drawn to the fluidity of the molten material, so blowing and molten casting became my preferred choice. My glass training has taken me all over the UK, and over to the US. I spent 5 months studying at Alfred University in NY State, which was a fantastic experience.

After completing my degree I moved to the West Midlands and completed a two year Post-Grad Diploma. I spent this time really concentrating on my technical skills and fell in love with the processes surrounding carved glass. I like to play with the glass and the layering properties it encourages. By playing with layers of colour, pattern and surface carving I began to produce tactile pieces of glass.
