Sam Johnson

I am interested in metamorphosis: the transformation of the physical form. My source of inspiration comes from found images from the early to mid-twentieth century of actors, writers, found objects such as dolls and old family photographs, and images of haute couture. These form the basis for composites which play on the idea of self-transformation.

My method of working has been informed by processes and techniques developed during my training in fine art printmaking at the Slade School and my degree in graphic design; particularly photo-etching and silkscreen.

Sam divides her time between Cambridge and Los Angeles.
