Victoria Dark

Victoria Dark graduated with a BA Hons., from Bath Academy of Art and an MFA from Southern Illinois University. Very early on in her career, she specialised in the technique of slip casting and working with porcelain.

Over the last 18 years she has produced an extensive range of delicate vessels and wall mounted plates and plaques. An intensive investigation into Raku has enabled her to develop a real understanding of its complexity and its enormous potential for creating rich and complex surfaces of many overlaid colours and textures.

The unique finished pieces have qualities reminiscent of the landscape and a timeless sense of forms shaped and weathered by natural forces. The surfaces have an ambiguity and tension between physical marks and a sense of depth created by a dramatic range of colours and metals she applies after the firings.

She has exhibited widely in Britain and America.
