Tiffany Scull

As a small girl Tiffany loved to draw and was encouraged to develop this talent. She spent many hours in the studio of her father, Colin Scull who is a working sculptor, watching fascinated as he made beautiful things with his hands. Growing up in central London she longed to be part of the natural world, what she was denied in her surroundings she created for herself in her imagination, escaping the grey city by drawing the animals, plants and other worlds she longed to see. Discovering the creative possibilities of clay sparked emotions of excitement that have never left her.

For a while Tiffany spent her time with clay searching for the perfection of form, only drawing on paper. Then came the thrilling discovery, the Sgraffito technique allowed her to work from paper to pot before submitting her work to the magic of the kiln.

Tiffany's most recent pieces have increased in size and this has allowed her to explore the decorative possibilities in even more detail. Her work has a magical quality combining the vibrant use of colour and her exquisite craftsmanship of Sgraffito. Her decoration is ever changing and progressing and she has numerous sketch books waiting to come to life.
Inspiration comes from the natural world around her as well as The Arts and Crafts Movement and Art Nouveau. Among other influences she has looked to artists such as Gustav Kilmt and Alberto Giacometti, as well as the works of such potters as Elizabeth Fritsch and Mary Wondrausch.
