Jane Hollidge

Although starting out as a painter, Jane Hollidge soon found that her passion lay in ceramic art. She began studying ceramics in 1990 and set up her own workshop in 1992.

I was born in Essex - moved to Cambridge in 1962 where I attended a course on Ceramics for three years and then opened my own workshop. Over the years I have developed my own personal style.

The greatest impact on my life was living in Asia. The wonderful simplicity and discipline of the art and culture there is seen in the way even the most humble objects are arranged.

I like to keep my work simple, all my pots are made by hand, using coiling and pinching method, some are then burnished for smoke firing. I also make slab and coil pots with abstract design using velvet glazes, first firing at 1000c then second firing at 980c.

I am a selected member of the Anglian Potters and have exhibited widely in the UK and have work in private collections throughout the world and have had many features in the National Press and one in Ceramic Review.

Prices range from: £20 - £550
